EARTH-BASED PRACTICES: ECOTHERAPY

tending to the landscapes of our hearts

Ecotherapy for adults, adolescents, women, helping professionals and change makers.

We often forget that WE ARE NATURE. Nature is not something separate from us. So that when we say that we’ve lost our connection to nature, we’ve lost our connection to ourselves.   - Andy Goldsworthy

At this time in our history, it is critical for us to bring deep healing not only to ourselves but to our planet as well. The Earth is calling upon us for support. Ecotherapy is a transformative modality that integrates therapeutic practices with the healing power of nature, knowing that we are mutually dependent and not separate. Through the practice of Ecotherapy, nature is our co-therapist and we weave the inherent wisdom inside of us with the innate wisdom of the Earth and thus, strengthen our sense of reciprocity and relationship with the Earth.

Ecotherapy provides opportunities for insight and to remember that we are not alone, nor are we separate from one one other and the more than human world. There is a home inside all of us that has always known it is connected and for some of us, we know this place when we are on the land. During Ecotherapy sessions, there is space to slow down, be with nature, listen to Earth’s medicine, and offer deep healing and transformation for ourselves and our planet.

The Alliance for Ecotherapy and Social Justice offers the following definition:

Ecotherapy is made up of two Greek words, ecos/oikos (home) and therapeia (to attend to, to care for). Ecotherapy is caring for and attending to our responsibility in our relationship with our natural home/Earth, on individual, family, community, and global levels.

Ecotherapy sessions are held outdoors and can range from one hour to a full day. These sessions are very useful during times when we are experiencing eco-grief and/or eco-anxiety around human-driven climate change and want to deepen our relationship with the Earth. To enhance your well being, Meredith will support your growth and transformation through practices to embody Earth’s medicine and integrate it into your body, mind, heart, and spirit.
